N-Acetylanthranilic acid (2-Acetamidobenzoic acid) and its salts
[With thanks to the reader who advised me the name 2-Acetamidobenzoic acid is an acceptable synonym for N-Acetylanthranilic acid—I had previously stated the name was in error.]
Ephedrine (erythro-2-(Methylamino)-1-phenylpropan-1-ol), its salts and any plant containing ephedrine or any of its salts
Before it was moved from Schedule VI, Section 2 by SOR/2002-361, the extended chemical name for Ephedrine described a single stereoisomer, specifically, the levo (l) isomer, depicted at left.
The systematic name for Ephedrine currently in the CDSA is not specific to a particular stereoisomer. Hence, it is unclear if the current designation of Ephedrine is meant to encompass the dextro isomer, the levo isomer, the racemate (a 1:1 mixture of dextro and levo isomers), or all three.
Pseudoephedrine (threo-2-(Methylamino)-1-phenylpropan-1-ol), its salts and any plant containing pseudoephedrine or any of its salts
Before it was moved from Schedule VI, Section 6 by SOR/2002-361, the extended chemical name for Pseudoephedrine described a single stereoisomer, specifically, the levo (l) isomer, depicted at left.
The systematic name for Pseudoephedrine currently in the CDSA is not specific to a particular stereoisomer. Hence, it is unclear if the current designation of Pseudoephedrine is meant to encompass the dextro isomer, the levo isomer, the racemate (a 1:1 mixture of dextro and levo isomers), or all three.
